D.W. HIGGINS INSTITUTE FRIDAY UPDATE September 7, 2007

ENROLLMENT – We are sending home door hangers today with the students to advertise for our school.  We have several classes that still have room.  We are asking parents to please hand them out to neighbors with school age children.  WE DO NOT WANT OUR STUDENTS TO GO HOUSE TO HOUSE PLACING THEM ON DOORS. 

VOLEYBALL – Our girl’s team is 1 and 1.  They suffered an upsetting loss against Tempe Prep A Team (made up of only 8th graders).  Come on out and watch athletic Ashley set and monumental MK spike.  All of our girls play hard and the games are really fun to watch.  Next game is Sept. 18th at Carden.

ART CLUB – After school art club will be starting next Wednesday.  Cost is $10.00 per family per session.  All ages are welcome to join.

SCHOOL PICTURES - October 9th will be picture day at Higgins.  Information on picture packages will be going home soon.

HOME ECONOMICS – Our home economics elective is looking for donations of Mason Jars, holiday ribbon, Christmas cards, and Halloween decorations/décor.  Please donate if you can.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS – Entertainment book orders and the money need to be turned in to Mr. Eiden by next Friday.  Cost is $25.00 per book.

FSO, WHAT’S THAT? – The FSO, Family School Organization, is Higgins form of a PTO.  We are seeking a new president for this school year.  Anyone interested please see Mary.  Once we have our officers in place we will announce the date of the first meeting. 

TAX CREDIT DONATION – You decide where you want you state tax dollars to go!  Support D. W. Higgins by donating up to $400.00 for married couples and $200.00 for single people.  This is a dollar for dollar tax credit off of your state taxes.  It’s easy just fill out the form sent home and send it back to school with your check.  Ask your friends and family too!  Additional forms are available in the front office. !

ELECTRONICS/TOYS/PHONES – All phones, iPODs, PSPs, Gameboys, MP3 players, etc. must be turned in to Mrs. Wallace in the morning.  We would prefer that they do not come to school at all.  The school is not responsible for any item lost or stolen including these expensive items.  Toys, games, stuffed animals, Yu Gi OH cards are a distraction at school and should be left at home unless you have permission from your teacher.
